Ilya Noé

Ilya Noé is a visual/performance artist-researcher, fan of taoist dialectics, slow research, messy theory, intellectual promiscuity, open-ended “yarnings”, ellipses… Born and mostly assembled in Mexico City, she moved to New York to go to art school when she was still a teen and since then has been building spaces by hand, on foot, and in co-creation with both humans and non-humans alike

Her solo work was recently showcased at Sala10 – Museo Universitario de Arte Contemporáneo (Mexico). Ilya was part of the 12th Biennale of Shanghai, represented Mexico in Venice’s OPEN2000, was a UNESCO-Aschberg Laureate, received a National Young Art Award, was special guest at the European Landscape Biennial and the International Biennial of Cerveira, and has shown at spaces such as Boston Center for the Arts, Centre d’Art Santa Mónica (Barcelona), Centro Nacional de las Artes (Mexico), CAS (Osaka), The Wilson Cheltenham Art Gallery & Museum (U.K.), Excentricités Festival (France), Beton7 (Athens), TRAFO (Szczecin), Performensk (Minsk), Zeta Gallery (Tirana), AC Institute (New York), San Francisco Art Festival, among others. Her work is represented in European and North American public collections. She now lives and works in Berlin.
