FINISSAGE MARCK | SPIEGELWELT

CONCERT MEREDI | SOME OTHER PLACE

On the occasion of the very successful exhibition SPIEGELWELT of the video sculpture artist MARCK, we invite you to a finissage with a gallery concert with the composer, producer and pianist MEREDI, who will present songs from her new album Some Other Place. Dive with us into the sound world of the exceptional Berlin talent.

MEREDI

The 29-year-old debuted with her solo piano album “Stardust” in 2020 to great success. BBC Music magazine ranked “Stardust” among the top 10 post-classical albums of the year. Her ambient album “Trance”, released in 2021, is about the intimate state just before waking up. Music is Meredi’s way of communicating. With her new album, “Some Other Place,” she manages to both transport audiences to faraway places and find themselves at the same time.

“I can’t really remember when I started composing, it feels like the music has always been in my head and I just learned to bring it to life,” she recalls. “The piano has always been my island or my retreat, I spent a lot of time at the piano with my melodies.”

MARCK

MARCK is a Zurich-born video and performance artist. A special focus of his art is the thematization of human thought patterns. MARCK examines externally imposed as well as self-imposed boundaries and forces a reflection on our own views of social limitation and restriction, especially of the female gender role. MARCK sees his sculptures as excerpts from our mental cinema and leaves the completion of the narrative to each individual viewer themselves. Since 2007, MARCK’s video sculptures have been shown in well over 200 exhibitions worldwide and his works can be seen in numerous private as well as public collections, including the ZKM Center for Art and Media, Karlsruhe, Germany, the Grande Finale Museum, France, the Dosan Artcenter, Korea, or the Artcenter Istanbul, Turkey.
