Berlin
Sep 12 — Sep 15, 2024
AOA:87 is pleased to be represented at this year’s edition of POSITIONS BERLIN with three selected positions from the program: Margarete Adler, Bodo Korsig and Holger Schmidhuber.
Highlight at POSITIONS:
Premiere: “FREIWILLIG – UNFREIWILLIG?” By Margarete Adler
The first sculpture from Margarete Adler’s latest series “FREIWILLIG – UNFREIWILLIG?” will be unveiled during POSITIONS. The work deals with the complexity of human existence.
At the center of “FREIWILLIG – UNFREIWILLIG?”, 2024, is the veristic depiction of personal healing and transformation processes. Through her artistic lens, Adler attempts to capture the essence of her protagonists’ experiences with the greatest possible authenticity and depth. The series is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the capacity for profound change.
AOA;87 presents a diverse selection from the oeuvre of Bodo Korsig. The artist (*1962, Zwickau), who lives in New York and Trier, concentrates on spatial installations, objects and videos. The focus of the presentation is on his “cut-outs”, which create special effects through three-dimensional forms and the interplay of light and shadow. Korsig’s work focuses on the visualization of invisible transitions and changes.
AOA;87 also presents new works by Holger Schmidhuber from the cycles “Sequenced Inversion” and “Carpets of the Forgotten”. Schmidhuber (*1970) is a professor of time-based media at Mainz University of Applied Sciences. His “Sequenced Inversions” transform painted memories through techniques such as liquefaction and layering, while “Carpets of the Forgotten” recontextualizes old oriental carpets into contemporary events through reworking.
