The “Enclosed Spaces” exhibition delves into the concept of confined spaces, interpreting architectural principles through the lens of human perception. In architecture, buildings create positive space, while the areas they enclose form negative spaces where people live and interact. An enclosed space is characterized by being surrounded by structures with limited openings.
MARCK’s work illustrates individuals grappling with both external and internal boundaries, highlighting the often insurmountable nature of these constraints. Each meticulously handcrafted “VideoSculpture” embodies the human quest for freedom and independence. MARCK invites viewers into the depths of their inner worlds, prompting reflection on existential questions, desires, and fears.
MARCK (*1964, Zürich) is a trained media designer and multimedia producer. Before his artistic breakthrough in 2007, he worked as a musician and media artist. This diverse background informs his social commentary through video sculptures—screens encased in structures that amplify the meaning of the object. His art masterfully blends the digital and analog worlds, extending moving images into physical space. MARCK’s unique approach blurs the lines between film and sculpture, creating a dynamic fusion that challenges traditional boundaries.
