ART KARLSRUHE 2026
NORIKO AMBE, HENDRIK CZAKAINSKI, NUMERO CROMATICO
5–8 FEBRUARY
BOOTH H4/P03 | DM-ARENA

We cordially invite you to visit our presentation featuring Noriko Ambe, Hendrik Czakainski, and Numero Cromatico at art karlsruhe, from 5–8 February at Booth H4/P03.

The booth brings together three artistic positions that conceive surface as an apparatus of perception: it structures the gaze, stores time, and opens up layers of meaning. Hendrik Czakainski condenses wood, cardboard, and metal powder into relief-like miniature cityscapes; grids, parcels, and clearings accumulate serially into a system that remains open-ended, in which density and erosion, demolition and construction are simultaneously present. Noriko Ambe layers thousands of hand-cut sheets of paper into precise topographies: the cut becomes a drawing in space, light and shadow model depth, and emptiness turns into material. Perception unfolds in the course of looking—between contour, edge, and silence. Numero Cromatico employs wool, handwriting-like typography, and AI-generated poems (including themes such as endings, love, and the future) as verbal stimuli; layers and colour form haptic pictorial skins with multiple levels of legibility. Together, the booth unfolds a study of how paper, textile, and relief structure our perception of space and image, and how these structures emerge between manual processes and technology.
